The Department of Poultry Science at the
University of Arkansas

line

Last academic year the Department of Poultry Science awarded over $176,000 in scholarships to deserving students. All of this would not have been possible without the tremendous support our department receives from the Poultry Industry and Allied Industries. To view our standards, please see below.

- Scholarships may be retained for a maximum of 8 semesters
- Students must participate in at least 15 hours of departmental service activities per semester (see III)

Departmental service activities
Students receiving scholarships, regardless of source, are needed to staff various activities conducted by the department. Student participation in these activities is vital to the growth of the scholarship program as both the student numbers and tuition costs increase. Failure to meet the departmental service activity requirement will result in termination of the scholarship for the following semester. Following is a partial list of departmental service activities:

Fall semester: Arkansas State Fair Poultry Show, Chicken Kitchen, Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest

Spring semester: State FFA Poultry Judging Contest, Buffalo Island District Poultry Show, Jonesboro

Summer: Poultry Science Youth Conference, Broiler/turkey banding and distribution
