Dr. Jones is a native of Florida and received his B.S. from the University of Florida in 1968. Dr. Jones earned his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Kentucky in 1972 and 1977, respectively. Dr. Jones joined the Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor/Poultry Specialist in 1977 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1989. Dr. Jones was awarded the Pfizer Extension Award by the Poultry Science Association in 1996. Dr. Jones joined the Center of Excellence in Poultry Science as Extension Section Leader in July of 1997 and was promoted to Associate Center Director for Extension in July of 2005. Dr. Jones founded and provides technical editing for the departmental newsletter “Avian Advice.” Dr. Jones established and coordinates the International Poultry Short Course.
