
The following poultry science students received award at the Poultry Science Association's annual meeting held in Niagara Falls, Canada, July 21-25.
Valerie Brewer, a master's student of Dr. Jason Emmert, took first place for her poster on poultry nutrition.
Vijay Durairaj, a master's student of Drs. Dustan Clark and Narayan Rath, who took first place for his research on leg problems in broiler breeders.
Isaac Harfor, a master's student of Dr. Nick Anthony, won first place for oral presentation in the genetic, pathology and immunology section.
Holly Jackson, undergraduate student of Dr. Billy Hargis, who won first place in the poster section of Processing, Products and Food Safety.
Lakshmi Kannan, a doctoral student of Dr. Narayan Rath, took first place for her research presentation on macrophages and Thymosin beta 4 regulation.
GSD Winners
Congratulations to Lakshmi Kannan, Ph.d. student of Narayan Rath who took first place during the Arkansas Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta's 10th annual research competition held in February 25, 2008. And congratulations to Fausto Solis de los Santos for being named the Poultry Science Outstanding Ph.D. Student in April 2008, and Vikrant Dutta, for being named the Outstanding M.S. Student for Poultry Science at the same awards banquet.
International Poultry Scientific Forum Winners
Congratulations to Fausto Solis de los Santos, Ph.d. student of Dan Donoghue's, who received the Alltech Student Manuscript Award for his manuscript "Yeast extract (alphamuneT) supplementation enhances early gut development in turkey poults," and to Jon Moyle, Ph.d. student of Keith Bramwell's, who received the Outstanding Presentation Award for his research on mating behavior in broilers during the annual International Poultry Scientific Forum presentation contest held in Atlanta in January 2008.
PSA Winners
Congratulations to Vivian Aguiar, Lakshmi Kannan, Ixchel Reyes-Herrera and Fausto Solis de los Santos. These graduate students took top honors for their research presentations during the recent Poultry Science Association's annual meeting in July 2007 in San Antonio!
